I feel your pain! I bought an unlimited plan from Alltel in Yet they still had the nerve to say that unlimited customers are placing an undue strain on their network! Basically, Verizon was demanding that the Google and Apple play stores block Hot Spot apps from being offered to their customers. Verizon successfully argued that unlimited customers could use unfair amounts of data and cause undue strain on the network, harming usage-based customers.

The caveat at least as far as Verizon has gotten away with so far is that usage-based customers are already paying for a limited amount of data and can used however they want required by the FCC ruling. However, unlimited data customers are charged to use their Hot Spot by the amount of data being used. Maybe that will change now that all the carriers are rolling out unlimited plans again.
